So Erik and I head to Florida with my Brother and Sister in Law (Quang and Huyen) We had just gone to Lake Tahoe with Erik's family the night before and drove home to catch an early morning flight out of SFO. My dad drove us to the airport though I somewhat don't remember how I got up cause I was so sleepy. The flight was horrible for me because my back hurt. But I was on vacation and I guess that is all that mattered. The First day we went to Disneys Animal Kingdom. It is sorta like a zoo with some rides and with a Disney theme. There is a huge artificial tree in the middle of the place with carvings of animals on it. The leaves looked very plastic to me, but others thought it was real, so I guess it is up to the person looking to determine the cheapness of the tree.
They have a neat ride with the Dinosaur movie theme where you go back in time in the jeeps that they have in the Indiana Jones ride in California. There were different themed areas where you can see animals of certain regions. In the asian themed area we went on a water ride.
Erik and I eventually got soaked on this ride. Which was helpful due to the fact Florida is hot and sticky. This is one of the reasons why I did not like Disney World. Don't get me wrong though.. I enjoyed my vacation and being at Disneyworld but it simply wasn't the same as California's Disneyland. We then spent a lot of time at the pool.
My brother brought his underwater kit for his digital camera so we took a lot of random pictures while getting away from the heat.
The resorts pool was very nice.
Thats me on the right!
That's me on the right again... they don't like taking pictures of my face.
Erik likes the pool.
Super Erik! The next day I planned to go to Epcot center. But when we got there they wouldn't let us exit. I called my contact at Disney Resort Services and she informed me that Epcot was closed because of an electtrical problem. This was the third time Epcot ever closed in its entire opening. And it had to happen when I planned to go to it. This is reason number two that I don't like Disneyworld. Disneyland has never closed on me. So instead, we went to Disney's MGM Studios, which was packed since the closing of Epcot displaced 50,000 people. The have two neat rides there, an rollercoaster dedicated to aerosmith, which was very cool, and the Tower of Terror. I was impressed by this park. We then waited to see fantasmic.... in the rain.. but we were so happy it wasn't hot.
The next day we went to Epcot center. I enjoyed Epcot and all the neat exhibits they had.We got to see the beetles,
We got to see telephone boxes,
And the most interesting ride is the Mexican ride, you'll just have to go to find out why. The day after that we went to The Magic Kingdom. Here is where I realized I missed California's Disneyland the most... no Matterhorn... no Indiana Jones.... racist persons.... I decided not to allow any pictures to be taken at the Magic Kingdom. Then on the Friday we went to Islands of Adventure, which is a Universal Park. The genius if this park is that it is better themed than the disney parks, and they give you the ability to buy your way to the front of the line. It was beautiful! No waiting in line... we did this park in no time and it was packed with awesome rides.
There was a Marvel comics themed area with four rides... one of which was a 3d rollercoaster featuring spiderman and another awesome rollercoaster featuring the hulk. Then there was a popeye like themed area with a bunch of water rides. Then there was Jurassic Park, where we could go on the river ralfting ride and see a live triceratops. Then we went to a medieval themed area with the Dueling Dragons rollercoaster which had two rollercoasters than looped around each other as if they were "dueling dragons" Then to top it off, there was a Dr. Suess themed area where you could ride the Cat in the Hat story on a giant Couch! The next day we went to Typhoon Lagoon, another Disney Park which just has water slides and a huge lagoon with an artificial wave machine.
We enjoyed ourselves for a few hours and then got tired of it. Luckily we left when we did because they were going to close anyway due to independing weather! Then back to the pool that night. The digital camera was out again and we were bored, so we took pictures of us looking as if we were dead in the water.
All in all, Universal gave us the best theme park in FLorida. Where as DisneyWorld was great simply due to the Disney Magnitude of the place... the place was gigantic .. and ALL Disney-fied! But due to this explotion, the humidity, and few, but apparent "uneducated and offensive local persons" I will not be giving Disney World the best Disney Park award. Maybe our next trip there will change our minds. |
